2011 Matrix, My Car!

Cool, retro style odometer
The roadrunner doesn't come with the car. It had been in my dad's store for years; no one wanted it. I thought it was cool, so I wanted to do something with it. I decided to hang it of off my cars rear view mirror. I think it looks nice.
Key less entry, yay! Really glad to have this. The Camry doesn't have this and it is really frustrating trying to get the animals cages in and the doors unlocked at the same time.
Nice auxiliary port for my mp3 player, so I can listen to my music.
2011 Toyota Matrix S Cargo Area
It also has five seats that all fold down, except for the drivers I think. It will be good for fitting animals cages, my bike and other things in (Christmas tree, tired of trying to fit in the trunk, or trying to tie it on to the roof). ( all of the pictures are from me, except from the last one with the seats folded down. that one came from Edmund's.)

It also gets 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the freeway (why do they call the freeway? I've always wondered, I feel free!).  It looks like a suv, but it handles like a car. Which I was really surprised about, it is very nimble. It does everything except maybe go off road. Which I think it maybe can do also if you get the awd (all wheel drive) version. I think that's why they seem to be a popular car in the northeast. They don't like to drive suv's and trucks over there, I see alot of wagons.
The Matrix looks like a hatch back, but is actually considered a wagon. It's a great car! I really like it. I'm glad that we got it and i'm excited to go cruise the road in it.
Road trip! Ha, ha jk! Maybe later.... There are some bike trails that I've been wanting to explore! I was looking at them on Google maps. There's a 300 mile trail that goes from Virginia to Pennsylvania that I would like to ride on, but maybe later...

Going to join Brenda in her Pondering With a Purpose this week. No more pictures, going to do some writing today....

It's that time of year again! Time to make a resolution for the new year, already? Yup! We'll if any of you remember my last New Year's resolution was to listen to the song Rome from the B-52's everyday until the end of the year. I got to March and forgot to listen to the song and ended up getting tired of listening to it.
Now it's time for another New Year! I don't know of any New Year's resolutions to make except to manage my time and finances a little bit better, like food and gas etc; gas for my new car! I'll tell y'all later in my next post!

Celebrated Birthday, Yum Cake, Trick Candles!

Celebrated my birthday yesterday, bought some trick candles by accident. I had to make a few attempts at blowing out the candles before I found out that they were trick ones. It's ok we got them all out eventually.

Going to join a new meme today called Two Shoes Tuesday from Josie Two Shoes! How it works is each week Josie writes a one word prompt where you can then share a short story, poem, essay, thought, or, photo relating to that word. We'll since today's topic is about shoes......
These are my current ones! They are just regular tennis shoes that my dad got me last Christmas! As far as shoes go I usually like to get running shoes, like the ones pictured below.....
These are my old shoes. I've had them since late 2007. I still use them, just not as often. Only when I have to get into the mud or, dirt. Or, when I feel like running, since they are running shoes!
The only thing that I don't like about running shoes is that I slip easily when I walk on wet tiles. My new ones pictured above have a flat surface so, I don't slip as easily....
I like my new shoes better but, I sometimes miss my old running shoes! I like to run so, running shoes have always been my choice for shoes when I was getting new ones but, lately since I have gotten out of high school and am not running track anymore. I don't really have a need for running shoes, just occasionally when I feel like running. I might miss them but, just plain old regular tennis shoes are enough for me.
I've thought about going running again, maybe running the 26 mile marathon but, I haven't decided if I want to do that. I tried running the mile on the trail that I ride my bike on and I got tired before I got about half a mile. It was in June and it was really hot. Also I had missed the deadline....
It ended on June 21st, I think. Maybe i'll try again, get some new running shoes! I don't know, for now i'm sticking with my Nike's!

Not Good Day to be Outside!

We had alot of scattered showers and thunderstorms today in Houston. I saw a lightning bolt strike the ground right in front of me when I was driving, the ground shook, it was pretty cool.

Nature Report 8!

Hey and welcome to another edition of Nature Report!!!!

Blue jay! I wonder if it's the one that I rescued? I doubt it.
Some sign that I saw remembering the judge and commissioners of Harris County. I saw it near the trail that I ride on, there are alot of signs like this around there. I wonder why?
White Dove? I think this is a white dove.

And I think the above two pictures are of a mocking bird, i'm pretty sure. This is a bird that has been keeping me company along with the white dove when I was holding a sign for my dad's store. That's what I've been doing lately, I've been holding a sign for my dad's from 10am to 12pm for the past couple of weeks now. It's not that bad. I like to be outdoors!
Skink! That's what type of lizard this is. They can have brown or, blue tails. I don't think they come in any other kind of colors, I've only heard of brown and blue. The blue color (I just read) means that it is a juvenile. I think they are most commonly found in Florida, maybe only near the Gulf coast or, other coastal cities around the globe. They are mostly found in bathrooms. From what I've read they are not poisonous to humans or, any animal. I've heard that they are poisonous to cats but, I've read that this is a myth brought on because of it's blue tail making it look like it was poisonous. I'm not sure about any of this. I'd be careful.

Also, remember these? One of the people that works at the animal shelter is really into insects and bugs! I showed her these pictures and she knew exactly what they were!

File:House gecko with spider.JPG
The tail is from a house gecko that likes to eat insects that are attracted to the light, they drop their tail as defense against predators, the tail will regenerate. Below picture with house gecko eating spider source:
And this is an garden orb weaver that likes to build their "beautiful webs" (as she puts it) at night and then put them back up in the morning, they are harmless.

Ok, that's it for another wonderful nature report! Until next time! later!

Nature and Galveston Trip Pics!

Don't know what this is? Looks like a mini snake or, a type of worm.
Light brown or, yellow spider, don't know what type of spider it is.
Some statue in the middle of Galveston.
Nice colorful Galveston pier!

The birds seem happy! Wonder why?

Lots of dead fish littered the Galveston and Texas coast on Sunday August 12, not a great day to go the beach. You can read about it here,
Some early 1900's or, late 1800's house that I took a picture of in Galveston, TX, look at the birds in the trees, can't really tell what type of bird they are. I didn't see them when I took the picture.
Bridge that connects to Galveston.
Back to good old Houston!

Ok, that's it! I hope to bring y'all more! See y'all later!

Nature Report 6!

About these: I wasn't supposed to talk about them so, shh!!!!

Spider eggs, we find them every summer, usually near the entrance....
One of the baby spiders.
Adult, spider that I think laid the eggs.
Black bellied whistling ducks, I think these are whistling ducks, found in George Bush Park. They have a red bill, long orange legs, black belly, and a large white patch on the back of it's wings.
I was going to ride my bike to Cinco Ranch but, the path was still flooded from all the rain that we had gotten last month. I probably could have made it but, I was afraid of finding a snake or, alligator. I saw something moving in under the water when I was taking this picture, I think it might have been an alligator.

I think this is the Mark's Ranch but, i'm not sure, you know that thing that I talked about before.

Another week exploring nature, oh! And I forgot! I don't know if i'm supposed to say anything about this either but, I rescued a blue jay from a street behind my house the Sunday before last and I brought it to TWRC where they cured it from it's internal bleeding. I don't know what happened to it, it might have been hit by a car. I would show you a picture of it but, I don't think i'm supposed to, sorry guys! And I want to say thanks to the TWRC vet that helped the blue jay, thanks!!!!

Ok, that's enough for this week, not sure what i'm going to talk about next week. I hope to bring y'all more, bye!
